That is a great explanation to the "free bank pen" crowd out there.Tomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17622714861501891629noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2055001132924516385.post-87032702659750220282011-03-13T20:26:07.437-05:002011-03-13T20:26:07.437-05:00Great article! A fountain pen is "an elegant weapon for a more civilized age" if I may poach a little Star Wars quote. Although this bygone age of ours is not necessarily more civilized. Your post compels me to also write a post about my love for fountain pens.Peninkcillinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00848625062603548050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2055001132924516385.post-54827644298193982522011-03-12T14:07:04.124-06:002011-03-12T14:07:04.124-06:00Good post! It forces me to slow down a wee bit and think rather than just pour trash all over the paper.JoniBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14221994968150611875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2055001132924516385.post-17071580303479467222011-03-12T13:33:51.070-06:002011-03-12T13:33:51.070-06:00Well said and much of it would also apply to other...Well said and much of it would also apply to other analog sketching tools that have been somewhat displaced and replaced by digital ones.B2-kunhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09431974279890454789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2055001132924516385.post-67757452282246115182011-03-12T13:20:02.035-06:002011-03-12T13:20:02.035-06:00I have many of the same feelings. There's also...I have many of the same feelings. There's also a big "retro" component for me when it comes to fountain pens (which, I guess, corresponds somewhat to your factor on being a part of history). While I think the internet is a great way to get in touch or keep in touch with certain communities (including, ironically, pen-pencil-paper people), I don't use it to keep in touch with family or close friends.

I like that I am doing something like they did in the "good ol' days." One of the things I like about watching the TV show Mad Men (set in the early 60s) is to see what it was like to communicate. I truly envy the lack of electronic intrusions that people had. (Again, somewhat ironically, since I watch the show on an electronic device.)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17812105557245903101noreply@blogger.com
